Correction and Retraction

Correction and Retraction

Jurnal Kesehatan Mesencephalon follows the COPE Retraction Guidelines. Maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record is a core responsibility of the journal, and errors or misconduct in published articles are addressed promptly and transparently.

Types of Correction

Depending on the nature and severity of the problem, the journal may publish:

  • Erratum: a correction of a publishing error introduced by the journal;
  • Corrigendum: a correction of an error made by the authors that does not invalidate the conclusions of the article;
  • Addendum: additional information or clarification published after the article;
  • Expression of concern: a notice alerting readers that an investigation into potential problems with the article is underway;
  • Retraction: withdrawal of a published article because its findings or conclusions are unreliable;
  • Removal: deletion of an article from the journal website in exceptional cases, and only for legal reasons.

Grounds for Retraction

An article may be retracted when:

  • There are fatal errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions;
  • There is evidence of fabrication or falsification of data;
  • There is plagiarism;
  • The article is a duplicate or redundant publication;
  • The research was conducted unethically.

Retraction Notices

A retraction is published as a separate, clearly identified notice that is freely accessible to all readers. The notice is linked to the retracted article, and the article is linked back to the notice. The original article remains available online but is clearly marked as “RETRACTED” on every page, so that the scholarly record is preserved while readers are clearly warned.

Who May Propose a Correction or Retraction

Corrections and retractions may be proposed by the authors, readers, reviewers, editors, or the authors' institutions. All proposals are assessed by the Editor-in-Chief, whose approval is required before any correction or retraction notice is published.
