Abstract

ABSTRACT

HIV/AIDS  knowledge  is  important  for  the  community  to  have
because good knowledge can reduce the stigma that arises in people living with
HIV/AIDS  (PLWHA).  This  stigma  arises  due  to  the  mistaken  view  that
HIV/AIDS  is  the  result  of  immoral  behavior,  which  causes  discrimination
against  PLWHA.  The  purpose  of  this  study  is  to  find  out  whether  there  is  a
relationship  between  knowledge  about  HIV/AIDS  and  community  stigma  in
PLWHA in Jeru Village, Turen District. The design of this study uses a crosssectional  design,  with  a  sample  of  100  respondents.  The  sampling  technique
used is non-probability with the purposive sampling method. This study has two
variables,  namely  knowledge  measured  by  the  HIV-KQ-18  questionnaire  and
stigma  measured  by  the  Link  and  Phelan  Likert  scale  questionnaire.  Data
analysis  uses  the  Pearson  correlation  test.  The  results  of  Pearson's  analysis
showed an r value of  -0.771 with a p-value (0.001 < 0.05), showing that there
was  a  significant  relationship  with  a  negative  correlation  between  knowledge
and  stigma.  In  conclusion,  the  higher  a  person's  knowledge,  the  lower  the
stigma that appears in society. On the contrary, the lower the knowledge, the
higher the stigma that appears in society.
